Jesus teaches that those who serve others--by clothing the naked or feeding the hungry, for instance--will be rewarded on judgment day as if they had done the same for Jesus himself. Matthew 25:34-40
In May, 2009, Middle Tennessee Letter Carriers participated in the Help Stamp Out Hunger Campaign. Communities participated in the nation's largest one-day food drive. In conjunction with the Second Harvest Food Bank, local emergency distribution points are established in communities in order to meet the increasing needs of Tennesseans struggling with hunger.
Our community is blessed to have a food pantry to help our neighbors in these uncertain economic times. Especially needed are canned meats and fruits, as well as basic cleaning supplies and personal toiletry items. We are now able to provide milk and eggs, and meat on a limited basis. If you would like to donate non-perishables, money or help distribute, contact Beverly Collins. We have also started an information center for community resources. Our goal is to be a Community Resources Information Center "One Stop Shop" for information and services. Our volunteers will endeavor to personally assist our neighbors who require additional information and/or services. |
